Vancouver 2010

If you’ve been reading HEAVYEYES for a while now, I’ve made no illusion that I’m a fan of Olympic branding, I did my dissertation on it. However, the last twenty years have been nothing to brag about, graphically at least. Although, I came across this on the Vancouver 2010 Official Site, while the emblem isn’t great, (reminds me of Barcelona ‘92) this poster definitely harks back to better days, for me, anyway.

Povilas Utovka

A concise and considered set of works from Povilas Utovka.

No-do

No-do, a graphic design studio based in Neuchâtel, Switzerland and founded by Noémie Gygax and Yann Do
in 2005, produce profoundly conscientious work for the cultural sector.

DesignStudio

Although there are a frustratingly small number of projects on the new DesignStudio site, the standard is high and the website itself is a fantastically functional and aesthetically pleasing piece of design in itself. I’m very much looking forward to some updates in the near future.

Kyle Bean

Kyle Bean’s beautifully-crafted, hand-made sculptures question our relationship with technology and the onset of obsolescence.

Simon Memel

I truly covet Simon Memel’s poster for the Camberwell BA Illustration show thanks to its undeniably ingenious type-treatment.

Xavier Encinas

How delicious is this business card by Xavier Encinas - from his recently updated portfolio. Lovely stuff.

Diftype

Lovely work from Diftype AKA Niklas Lundberg. Busy and eclectic to the stripped back and minimal.

Paul Tebbott

Love the simplicity and colour of Paul Tebbott’s latest work that you can see on his Flickr.

Linn Eriksen

I’m most intrigued and beguiled by Linn Eriksen’s work that is beautifully exploratory yet somewhat retrospective.

Maxim Zhestkov

Maxim Zhestkov’s work is 99% greyscale and 100% awesome. Really enjoy his mysterious motion work.

Pam&Jenny

Nathalie Pollet AKA Pam&Jenny has some work thats well worth having a look at. Lovely.

Garamond powerline

The fantastically fastidious Garamond powerline from 0c/0m/0y/0k.

HypeType

HypeType has some nice creative typefaces, including ones from Alex Trochut and HELLOHIKIMORI

Chris Gilmour

In a fleeting and democratized digital age, sculptor Chris Gilmour reminds us of the value of individual craftsmanship and perception with his immensely impressive, life-size cardboard-and-glue observations.

OMGJHQ!

Some lovely type and print stuff by Justin LaFontaine, I can’t figure out if his stuff is silkscreened though, if not, some lovely texture going on!

Mark Adamson

Mark got in touch to show us his portfolio - some great stuff and well worth a browse. Particularly like his self initiated project based on lomography events.

Jonathan Zawada

I just fell in love with Jonathan Zawada’s portfolio. Sublime, eclectic work from the Australian.

Courts

Courts is a beautiful collection of photographs by Elliott Wilcox that sublimely captures aging playing grounds of Real Tennis.

Richard Carey

Richard Carey recently graduated from Brighton with a portfolio packed full of goodies including this redesigned vinyl packaging for MGMT.
