Welcome to An Entrepreneur Blog

Let me start by saying I’ve been postponing the writing of this entry, for maybe two years – it could be more. There are many reasons for this situation, including lack of time, a little bit of laziness and other projects I’ve had in my mind. But let’s start from the beginning, by explaining why I say I should have written this more than two years ago.

My name is Alex. I was born in Bogotá, Colombia (South America for those who are not good on geography) and I currently live in this same city. I’m 29 and the last 15 years have been kind of crazy for me, due to the appearance of the Internet. Internet changed my whole life and soon after I started browsing my first webpages, I saw it’s huge business potential. I have created many business projects basically starting when I was 15 years old and I still do, most of them, related somehow to Internet. This “career” has leaded me to call my self An Entrepreneur, and that’s the beginning of the story of this Blog.

About two years ago, after having experienced my first and I hope last Bankruptcy and working at a job that didn’t represent any challenges, as an employee, I decided it was time to continue with my entrepreneur journey. At the time, it was clear I couldn’t quit my job, at least not for the time being. I wanted to do something with meaning, that on the long run could bring me some extra income and most important, that it wasn’t a full time position. And so, I had the idea of creating a Blog about Entrepreneurship, where I could share my experiences, knowledge, errors and more.

Since I live in a Spanish speaking country, the natural thing was to create a Spanish Blog. So I did this, and over two years ago I created the Blog Un Emprendedor. I’ve written this Blog for over 2 years now, with about 125 articles in different categories. Although it’s not by a long shot the most popular Spanish speaking Blog, I like what I’ve accomplish and I try to keep adding new content, at least 2-3 times a week.

When I started the Blog, one of the main ideas was to create an English version of it. However as I’ve already said, I’ve encountered many reasons not to start this second version of the Blog. That is, until today, when I haven’t found any more reasons and decided it’s time to give it a go.

This Blog’s main theme is Entrepreneurship, based mainly on my experiences and knowledge. However it’s reach is much wider, as I also include Administration related subjects, such as Marketing, Sales, Strategies and others. Also, I include themes from my day job as a Consultant, including Innovation & Creativity, Internet and Technologies as Strategic Assets. If you want to learn more of my Consulting Activities, please check out Consultorías 360°‘s (360° Consulting) website in English.

As I’ve already said, this is the English version of my Spanish Blog. However I have to say this isn’t an exact translation. Actually, the Spanish Blog will inspire many articles, but by no means they are a literal translation. So if you can read in both English and Spanish, you’ll find that the articles from one site differ from the other.

Also, since the Spanish Blog has a 2 years plus head start, it’s much more complete than the English one. With time I hope both Blogs have a large database of articles, but it will definitely take some time for this English Blog to catch up. However, rest assured that I will do my best to keep up with this new challenge, bringing you several times a week high quality articles.

Although my experience is quite centered in Latin America and my home country Colombia, I’m sure I’ll give trough my articles a wide perspective, that includes other locations, such as the US, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zeeland and much more.

Before I end this first entry, I want to share with you a small disclosure. Spanish is my native language and English is my second language. I started learning English when I was about 3 years old and I studied in a fully bilingual school in Bogotá owned by an American woman. Since then, I use English in my everyday life, reading and watching and hearing English. However my pronunciation and writing is not perfect, so at times I may incur in small errors. Please bear with me, as I try to correct these errors before publishing the articles, but once in a while an error or two might go without any correction.

Thanks for reading this first post, for visiting my Blog and I hope you come back often. If you have any comments, please leave them bellow; it will be great to hear from you!
